FAIR PLAY - Macks Creek traveled to Fair Play on Monday for another Polk County League matchup and were stung by the host Hornets, 12-1 in five innings.

Fair Play plated four runs in the first, two in the second, five in the third, and one more in the fourth.

The Pirates were a little stagnate on offense for the night. Trever Smith reached for the Pirates with a two out walk in the first but remained stranded. Tyler Newcomb walked and moved to second on a Hunter Harris ball to short that was misplayed in the second. Grant English singled in the third but was erased on a Trever Smith fielder's choice in the third and Preston Borgmeyer walked in the fourth and moved to second on a wild pitch.

Trailing 12-0 in the top of the fifth, Macks Creek saw a spark offensively. Grant English tripled with one out to deep right. Keith Edelman reached when his pop up in the front of the plate was dropped to put runners at first and third. Trever Smith then laced an RBI-single to left to plate Grant. Edelman was erased trying to reach third on the play. Trever would move to second on the throw to third. He would advance to third on a wild pitch and then would be tagged out trying to score on a wild pitch to end the game.

"We came out a little flat in all facets tonight," said Macks Creek Head Coach Jason Trusty, "we had a little trouble finding the zone on the mound and then adjusting to it at the plate."

Offensively Macks Creek collected three hits on the night. Grant English went two-for-three with a single, triple, and a run scored. Trever Smith collected an RBI-single, walked, and reached on a fielder's choice. Keith Edelman and Hunter Harris each reached on an error and  Preston Borgmeyer and Tyler Newcomb had a walk each.

Tanner Smith (0-1) started and took the loss on the hill for the Pirates. He worked the first two innings, allowing six runs on five hits while striking out three, walking two, and hitting two batters. Kyler Gabriel relieved and worked two innings, allowing six unearned runs on three hits while walking two and striking out one.

Macks Creek falls to 1-1 (1-1 PCL) with the loss. They will play host to the Stover Bulldogs tomorrow (Tuesday) at 5:00 p.m. and the Humansville Tigers on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

The Pirates JV fell to 0-2 with a 14-2 loss in the night cap.
