Macks Creek School recently received a letter from Stan Pylar who is the Hoop Shoot Director for the Osage Community Elks Lodge 2705. Mr. Pylar shared the following:

On November 18, 2023 the Elks Lodge 2705 in Laurie hosted a “HOOP SHOOT” competition in the Versailles High School Gymnasium for kids 8 to 13 years of age. There were 31 kids competing for the opportunity to win and move on to the next level of this National Competition.

Congratulations to Carter Ferrell for winning the 1st place medal in his age group. Ferrell faced eleven competitors from Camdenton and Versailles. To win his bracket, Ferrell made 20 out of his 25 shots! It was amazing to watch him shoot one after the other dropping through the net!

Ferrell will have the opportunity to compete at the next level of the competition. “District” will be held at the Clinton elementary school on January 6, 2024. If Ferrell takes first place here, he will move on to State competition, Regional competition and finally, the National Championship in Chicago, IL on April 18th -21st, 2024.  I can’t tell you how proud our Elks’ lodge is of Ferrell.

Macks Creek School is also proud of Carter for winning the 12/13 year old bracket at this Hoop Shoot. We wish him the best when he competes at Districts in January! Great job Carter!
