Congratulations to Brooklyn Duggan and Addison Ratliff! Both ladies graduated from Leadership Camden County and were honored at a ceremony yesterday afternoon at Ballparks National. In its 30 year history, over 700 individuals have graduated from this program which is sponsored by the Camdenton Area Chamber of Commerce. On the Camdenton Area Chamber of Commerce Website, Leadership Camden County is described as follows:
During the 8-month program, participants had an opportunity to learn about a number of aspects of the community, including history and natural resources; state government; social services; health care and education; economic development and tourism; law enforcement and the legal system; and infrastructure. Several sessions focused on leadership skills, group dynamics, team building, and creating a vision for the future.
The goals of the program are to enhance the leadership skills of participants to improve Camden County’s future; familiarize participants with the community’s opportunities, needs, problems, and resources; identify and analyze current economic, political and social forces affecting the community’s future; establish effective peer relationships among participants; provide a common ground for communications between participants and community leaders; and to educate participants on how to move people and ideas to action.
On the Chamber of Commerce's Facebook page yesterday, the group shared "we’d also like to extend a huge thank you to the employers and school districts who support this program by sending staff and students through it. Your commitment—both financial and in time—is invaluable, and we couldn’t be more grateful for your continued support."
Addie and Brooklyn went through this year's Leadership class with 4 other seniors from other County schools. This year, each student completing the program was presented with a cord to wear at their high school graduation ceremonies next month.
The Camden County Leadership Class 30 was comprised of 26 members this year. In addition to Brooklyn and Addie, other Leadership graduates include Christine Weeks, who was just hired as our High School Math teacher for the 25-26 school year, as well as Macks Creek Community Park Board members, Stephanie McCormack and Kristin Reed. Congrats everyone!
Well done Addison and Brooklyn! We can’t wait to see the contributions the both of you will bring to the Macks Creek Community and Camden County. The future is brighter because of your commitment and hard work!
