Team Huddle

The Pirates basketball team wrapped up a productive summer campaign, showing significant growth and determination throughout the off-season. Coach Mathes expressed pride in the team's progress, noting, "I have had a great summer working with our boys basketball team!"

The season began at the Moberly Shootout, where the team faced a challenging start. However, the squad quickly found their rhythm. "We started off slow on our first day," Mathes explained, "but on day two, we gradually got stronger and won our last two games. The momentum carried over into the rest of the summer."

The team continued their strong play in Hermitage, securing victories against Climax Springs and Humansville. At the subsequent stop in Lincoln, both the Junior Varsity and Varsity squads saw valuable floor time. The JV team demonstrated resilience against a combined Lincoln opponent, while the Varsity team secured wins in two of their three matchups. The summer session concluded with a trip to Waynesville, where the team split their games against larger school competition.

Looking ahead, Mathes remains focused on the team's development. "I am excited to keep working with the boys and building our toughness to complement our talent," he said.
