WHEATLAND - Macks Creek concluded its regular season with a trip to Wheatland for make-up contest with the Mules. At the end of the night it was the Pirates who suffered a 9-0 defeat.
Wheatland plated their first run in the bottom of the first and never looked back. They tacked on four more in the second, one each in the fourth and fifth, and then two more in the seventh to complete their scoring.
The Pirates put a runner on in the top of the first when Trever Smith singled to right with two outs. Courtesy runner Austin Brown would remain stranded at first. Kyler Gabriel reached on an error in the third but was doubled off. Ethan English reached in the fourth but was also doubled off at first on a line drive to short. Hunter Harris and Olivier Sanchez walked in the fifth but remained stranded. Grant English singled in the sixth but was erased on a double play. Tanner Smith was hit-by-a-pitch but did not advance past first in the seventh.
"We managed to put the ball in play a bit more tonight but it always found someone, and at some inopportune moments as well," commented Jason Trusty of Macks Creek.
Grant English and Trever Smith each singled for the only two hits for the Pirates. Ethan English and Kyler Gabriel each reached on an error, Tanner Smith was hit-by-a-pitch, and Hunter Harris and Olivier Sanchez each walked.
