Carsen Strutz and Charles Lewis (bottom right) Recognized During MORAP Student & Employer Signing Event

Two Macks Creek students, Carsen Strutz and Charles Lewis along with their future employers, signed certificates of commitment.  This occurred today at a Missouri Registered Apprenticeship Program (MORAP) Student and Employer Signing Ceremony at the Laker Career and Technology Center (LCTC) in Camdenton. Through an agreement between Macks Creek School and Camdenton School, Carsen began studying welding last year at LCTC and Charles began the automotive program this year. Because of their hard work, focus and demonstration of aptitude in their respective fields, both became eligible to become some of the first students in the state of Missouri to connect with employers before they even graduate.  MORAP matches local employers with high school students who demonstrate a commitment to progress in their chosen fields of study through a two-year apprenticeship.  Both students will begin working full time once they graduate in the spring, Charles at Dependable Automotive and Carsen at LOZ Dive.

LCTC Director, Jackie Jenkins discussed the program, which is comprised of a team of employers, LCTC instructors and administrators who will follow-up with the employers and students during the apprenticeship.  While the program most certainly benefits the students who move directly into the workforce after high school, it also helps the employers who are able to hire individuals who have demonstrated they are "work ready".  The instructors at LCTC will also receive valuable feedback from the employers allowing them to continue improve to their programs for the benefit of other students.  Macks Creek School is proud of both Carsen and Charles for their hard work and wish them the best in their future careers!
