Macks Creek School is ready to start a brand new year with our amazing students! We will continue our goal of providing the best education possible through our work in District Continuous Improvement (DCI). Due to learning loss students experienced during past school closures, this effort has never been more important. Through DCI, our district is continuing an in-depth implementation and evaluation of our academic and behavioral practices leading to improved instruction and student learning. This year our teachers and administrators will engage in PD activities that focus on policy, process and instruction (all of which are research based and data driven). Our students will benefit not only from improved instruction, but also learning how to be more active participants in their own learning. We are striving to ensure students understand more about their own thinking and learning processes and how to best approach any given learning situation.

We are excited to welcome several high-quality individuals to our Pirate Family:

Mr. Alexander Jones – High School Guidance Counselor & Technology Director 

Mr. Jones, who is starting his 3rd year as a Missouri counselor, has a mission “to empower lifelong learners to pursue their dreams and look forward to a bright future”. He has been married to his wife, Selene, since 2020. The Jones’ enjoy traveling to see new places, including a recent trip to Puerto Vallarta, as well as camping and kayaking. They have two dogs named Max and Ruby. Mr. Jones also enjoys playing disc golf at Dragon Ridge Disc Golf Course in Camdenton.

Mr. Tanner Glodt – Elementary Guidance Counselor

Mr. Glodt is a native of the lake area and is serving our country as a member of the National Guard. He has a degree from Drury University in criminal justice and psychology. He earned his Masters in school counseling from Lincoln University. Tanner most recently served as the elementary counselor at Niangua. Tanner is a fan of Star Wars and when you walk into his classroom you will think you have traveled to “a galaxy far far away”! 

Mrs. Candace Bothwell – Career and College Advisor

Mrs. Bothwell has a Masters in Psychology as well as a degree in special education. She has experience working with youth as a teacher, counselor, social worker and director of special education. Mrs. Bothwell has served our students in the past as substitute teacher. Candace is excited to join the Macks Creek team to work primarily with upper-classmen to establish concrete post-secondary plans relative to college and career. Candace and her husband Chris have lived within our school community for many years. She is excited to have a position close to home! 

Mrs. Alex Tower – 1st Grade Teacher 

Mrs. Tower is a MCHS graduate returning to her alma mater to teach first grade. Alex studied early childhood education through Central Methodist University. She has previously served the district as a long-term substitute and is excited to have a classroom of her own this fall. Alex and her husband Nehemiah enjoy living in Macks Creek and are both excited she found a position close to home! Alex is an avid reader who has enjoyed reading books by author Colleen Hoover this summer. 

Mrs. Renae Ratliff – Superintendent’s Secretary & District Data Coordinator 

Mrs. Ratliff brings experience in the banking industry as well as the medical records field to her position here in our central office. She has been married to her husband, Kenny since 2008. They have three children, Jenna, Chase and Addie. Jenna is proudly serving overseas in the United States Air Force. Chase stays busy in the workforce and Addie will be attending MCHS this year. When she isn’t cheering for Addie at a sporting event, Renae enjoys watching Netflix and reading.

Mrs. Laurie Jones – 1st Grade Teacher 

Mrs. Jones is a veteran educator who recently moved to Macks Creek from the Greater Los Angeles area. She brings twenty-five years of experience to our first graders and is passionate about early literacy. Mrs. Jones and her husband, Mark have been married 32 years. They have two children, Alex (our new HS counselor) and Sara. Sara is beginning her career as a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Laurie is an avid scrap booker and she enjoys collecting coins. Mrs. Jones is also passionate about softball and is looking forward to helping grow our program. 

Coach Jeff Treat – High School PE Teacher and Head Basketball Coach 

Coach Treat is a graduate of Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) in Joplin who has served as a head middle school and an assistant high school boys basketball coach. Jeff has also served as a head baseball coach. Mr. Treat was a member of the MSSU basketball team during college and is looking forward to having his own classroom this year. Jeff was raised in West Fork, Arkansas and feels most at home in a small town. In his spare time, Coach Treat enjoys hanging out with family and friends and playing disc golf.

Mr. John McDonald - High School Custodian 

Mr. McDonald joins our team as a our evening high school custodian. With an extensive background in facility maintenance, he has already been a tremendous help preparing our campus for the coming year. John's family recently moved to Macks Creek and we are excited to welcome him! 

Mrs. Amanda Mankey - Special Education Paraprofessional

Mrs. Mankey and her family have lived in the Macks Creek community for many years. She has experience in the retail field and extensive experience leading a wide variety of ministries for children and youth. She is a caring and compassionate mother of three boys and is looking forward to serving our students! Welcome Mrs. Mankey! 

School starts this Monday. We  are very excited to welcome our students back and are looking forward to an incredible year.
